The Taiwanese rock band Mayday will take the City of Angels by storm with the “Mayday 2018 Life Tour in Bangkok” concert at Impact Exhibition Hall 1, Muang Thong Thani, on Oct 6 at 8pm.

This is the first time Thai fans will witness a powerful live performance by one of the most famous bands in the Chinese-speaking world.

Dubbed The Chinese Beatles, the five-member group has maintained its fame throughout its 20-year career on Taiwan’s rock scene.

Mayday has released nine albums since its founding in 1997. It released its critically acclaimed debut album, Mayday’s First Album, in 1999, and won for best musical group at the Golden Melody Awards, Taiwan’s equivalent of the Grammys, in 2001, 2004, 2009 and 2012.

Their eighth album, Second Round, released in late 2011, took six major awards at the ceremony, while their latest album, History Of Tomorrow, released five years later, was nominated in eight categories, winning for best Mandarin album and best lyricist.

The band is comprised of five former high-school friends: lead vocalist and primary songwriter Ashin, band leader and guitarist Monster, bassist Masa, guitarist Stone and drummer Guan You.

They are currently on their 10th world tour, the Life Tour, which kicked off last March and will include more than 100 shows in Asia, North America, Europe and Oceania. By the time the tour hits Australia and New Zealand later in September, the band will have set all manner of new records and will have performed for more than four million fans altogether on the tour.

Tickets cost 1,800, 2,800 and 4,800 baht (6,800 baht for VIP packages) and can be purchased from Thai Ticket Major (thaiticketmajor.com).
