FURNITURE AND LIGHTING (Event Hall, 3rd floor of Central Chidlom, Phloenchit Road, 10am10pm, until July 30)

The 2nd “Central Chidlom Hot Furniture & Lighting” fair features new collection­s of export-quality design furniture, lighting and home decor items from 21 local brands. They include Ango, Agal, Art of T, Ayodhya, Baanchaan, Bambunique, Corner 43 Decor, Decorum, Egg, Element 26, Hygge, Kenkoon, Kiddee Design, Mother Goose, Niiq, PDM Brand, Pin, +Sense, Tima, Touchable and Yothaka. The “One Day In Edo” fair brings visitors back in time to the Edo period of Japan with replicas of many important places such as an old Edo village, Honmaru Goten Palace, Ishiguro Samurai House, Toki no Kane or the Bell of Time, Ema Tunnel and Shinkyo Red Bridge. Also displayed are life-sized models of prominent figures of that period including Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, samurai, ronin, ninja and shinsengum­i. Visitors can try nagashi somen, a unique way of serving noodles via flowing cold water in a long bamboo tube; and shop for souvenirs and Japanese style food from 70 shops. Call 02-454-7777.

IN REMINISCEN­T OF WANG BURAPHA (Seacon Square, Srinakarin Road, 11am-8pm, until Aug 5)

The “70s Once More” fair will take visitors back in time to experience the atmosphere of Wang Burapha, one of the hippest communitie­s for youngsters nearly 50 years ago. Replicas of popular places of that era such as Talat Ming Muang, King’s Cinema and Nightingal­e-Olympic department store are presented. Seventies music such as heavy metal, rock and disco will be performed by profession­al bands daily in the afternoon from Friday to Monday. The line-up includes Chaba Big Band, Isn’t, Spirit, Hard Boy, Kaleidosco­pe, Vertigo, Balloons, AC93, Fruity, The Betters and President. Call 02-721-8888.
