Arrest for football match scam

-

NAKHON NAYOK: A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly duping dozens of people into booking a trip to see a football match in Japan.

Watchanan Tantikitti was busted at a restaurant in Ongkharak district yesterday. He is wanted on charges of fraud and entering false information into the computer system.

Pol Col Man Manyaem, head of the Crime Suppression Division’s Subdivision 4, said the suspect had left posts on his Facebook page persuading SCG Muangthong United supporters to join a trip he organised to see a match between the club and Kawasaki Frontale of Japan on May 30.

Mr Watchanan claimed he had tickets for the game, Pol Col Man said, adding those joining the trip were asked to pay 25,000 baht each, which included flights and accommodation.

The suspect could not be reached after money for the trip was wired to his account, victims claimed.
