Panel formed for geopark study
ENVIRONMENT: Narathiwat province yesterday formed a panel to oversee a feasibility study for a provincial geopark project which promises to regulate and promote the preservation of geological heritage in a sustainable way.
Yutthana Prommanee, director of the Narathiwat Community College, said the committee’s main responsibility was to supervise the study and draw up a master plan for the Narathiwat Geopark.
The geopark will focus on the preservation of geological heritage and local tradition in the province, which will help attract tourists, resulting in sustainable ecotourism and income for residents.
The five districts are Sukhirin, Tak Bai, Sungai Kolok, Rangae and Waeng.
