ASIA'S NEXT TOP MODEL IS BACK ON YOU SCREEN

Asia’s Next Top Model is back for yet another season as aspiring models fight for their chance to win it all on this modelling reality TV show. Themed “Beyond Limits”, the sixth season of AsNTM was filmed in Bangkok, with 14 contestants from across Asian countries joining the runway of the “modelling boot camp”, as described by the show’s host Cindy Bishop — Thai supermodel, actress and beauty queen. The show literally requires its contestants to hold on for dear life in crazy challenges. While there are the usual props and scenes like beach, diamond, animal, lingerie and cars, other challenges sent the ladies underwater, up in the sky, gliding on a vertical runway, walking down a hanging bridge, wearing bikinis on a skating rink, skipping down a narrow

water runway that saw them slip and slide on their stilettos, and more. “If they can survive Top Model, they can pretty much survive anything,” said Cindy who took over as the main host since 2016. Three contestants from Thailand are now in the running for the title. Throughout the previous five seasons, Thai contestants have emerged as winners for two seasons: Jessica Amornkuldilok in Season 1 and Tawan Kedkong in Season 4, putting Thailand on record as the only country to have two winners on AsNTM. The Top Model franchise originated in 2003 as America’s Next Top Model with American

supermodel Tyra Banks, who served as host and judge. The original show — with 24 seasons to date — has been shown in 170 countries and regions around the world, and is regarded as one of the top fashion TV shows with a strong impact on pop culture. Over the years, the show has also spanned various international adaptations in over 40 countries and regions, from Europe and Africa all the way to the Caribbean and Far East. Even Thailand had its own adaptation back in 2005, but it was short lived and only lasted for one season.
