PTT LAUNCHES SHORT FILM COMPETITION
PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) invites university students from across the country to enter a short film competition held under the theme “Knowledge Propels The People, Energy Propels The Nation” to vie for cash prizes worth more than 200,000 baht in total.
The competition is to mark the 25th anniversary of the Bongkot gas field, the company’s first offshore petroleum exploration and production field and also a crucial energy source that has played a vital role in supplying the country with natural gas for 25 years.
The competition is open to teams of second-year university students (or equivalent) in any field from any institute. They will have an opportunity to learn about the company’s capacities in promoting efficient and sustainable energy development. Then, they are required to come up with a creative way to capture the essence of the company’s mission and portray it through a short film.
Each team must produce a two-three minute storyboard that features shots of three mandatory inspirational items
relating to working at the Bongkot field. They include a coverall suit to represent the duties of all staff members at the field who work continually to deliver natural gas for the country; a safety helmet to reflect their pride in ensuring national energy security; and a picture of the Bongkot field to convey a message that the field is also considered as the school of energy exploration and production that has transferred knowledge from generation to generation.
Only eight successful teams will be selected to join a film production workshop conducted by filmmaker Wittaya
Tongyuyong. They will have at least two weeks to transform their storyboards into real short films for the final round.
The winning team will receive 100,000 baht, a trophy, certificates and an internship opportunity at a top advertising agency. The first and second runner-ups will receive 75,000 and 50,000 baht, respectively, plus certificates. Deadline for the application and submission of the storyboards is Sept 15.
