STUDENT START-UP SHOWCASE

-

University students nationwide are showcasing their creative innovation applications at “Startup Thailand League 2018”.

More than 190 prototypes from over 500 teams and 2,000 students across the country have been selected by Science and Technology Ministry to showcase their works at Science And Technology Fair 2018.

“Easy Gas”, biodegradable cooking gas developed by Silpakorn University, won the first prize at the North Startup competition. The biodegradable gas was designed to substitute liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and now the team of Easy Gas has been partnering with Siam Gas Petrochemicals to co-produce the bio gas. The team also developed a smart sensor to record gas usage and leakage.

“Fifth Gear”, a team from Prince of Songkla University, invented a smart accessory embedded with GPS and SOS application for bicycles to record a cyclist’s journey.

A monitoring application for the elderly and people with disability, called “The Guardian”, developed by a team of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi students enables caregivers and patients’ relatives to be alerted in case of emergency.

A number of projects by students have the potential to be promoted as start-up businesses, said Sakorn Chanapaitoon, adviser to the Science and Technology Minister.
