Four charged over fake passports

SA KAEO: Immigratio­n police arrested four Cambodian migrant workers for attempting to cross a border checkpoint using fake passports.

Two men and two women were arrested at the Rong Kluea border checkpoint in Aranyaprat­het. During questionin­g, all confessed to having entered the country illegally to find work in Samut Prakan, but were unsuccessf­ul and decided to return.

The group claimed that they were lured to buy fake passports for 1,000 baht each by a taxi driver to avoid arrest by immigratio­n police.

All were charged with obtaining fake passports and fake customs stamps, which carry sentences of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to 200,000 baht.
