Four charged over fake passports
SA KAEO: Immigration police arrested four Cambodian migrant workers for attempting to cross a border checkpoint using fake passports.
Two men and two women were arrested at the Rong Kluea border checkpoint in Aranyaprathet. During questioning, all confessed to having entered the country illegally to find work in Samut Prakan, but were unsuccessful and decided to return.
The group claimed that they were lured to buy fake passports for 1,000 baht each by a taxi driver to avoid arrest by immigration police.
All were charged with obtaining fake passports and fake customs stamps, which carry sentences of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to 200,000 baht.
