Street vendors petition ministry

-

CITY: Street vendors have asked the Ministry of the Interior to solve problems caused by the government’s policy to regulate them.

Led by Rewat Chobtham, over 100 vendors yesterday sent a petition to Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paojinda.

The letter stated the group has been affected by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s Sept 10 order which put many trading spots across the city off limits.

Mr Rewat said many of his group had been forced to turn to loan sharks after suffering losses in their businesses. He urged the government to review the policy and allow vendors to return to their spots.

Gen Anupong has allowed the group to send up to 15 representatives to sit on a new committee which will be formed soon to deal with the problem.
