Japanese monk offers enlightenment talks
Swami Satyalokananda, a Japanese monk of the Ramakrishna Order of India, will deliver two lectures during his visit to the Kingdom at the invitation of the Ramakrishna Vedanta Association of Thailand from tomorrow until Saturday.
The topic for the first lecture is “The Benefits Of Meditation” and will be held at Room 101 of the College of Social Innovation, Rangsit University, Phahon Yothin Road, tomorrow at 1pm.
On Thursday, he will address “Sustainable Peace And Harmony In Our Multicultural Society: A Hindu Perspective” at Room 304 of the International Buddhist Studies College, Mahachulalongkorn Rajavidyalaya University in Ayutthaya, from 1-4pm.
Born in Japan in 1949, Swami Satyalokananda graduated from Kobe University with a major in economics in 1973. He joined the Ramakrishna Order at Belur Math and received the diksha initiation from Swami Vireswarananda, the 10th president of the order, in 1976.
He was posted to the Hyderabad centre from 1977-1980 and again from 1982-1996. Then he became the head of the Hyderabad centre and later the 13th president of the Ramakrishna Order.
The 69-year-old Hindu monk has spoken at various interfaith forums, notably at the International Conference on Religion and Peace, organised by Islamic Education Scientific And Cultural Organization (Isesco) Singapore, held in October 2016.
He is currently a vice-president of the Ramakrishna Mission in Singapore and also the manager of Sarada Kindergarten, rated one of the best in Singapore.
