Heritage sites host EU fifilm festival
Ten European heritage sites in Bangkok will become screening venues for the European Union Film Festival 2018, which will present an open-air movie-screening experience for the first time ever from tomorrow until Dec 17.
Held to celebrate the European Year of Cultural Heritage (EYCH) in 2018, the 27th edition of the festival will bring 19 premium, award-winning films from 19 EU member states to delight local audiences, as 10 residences of EU member state ambassadors and EU cultural institutes in the city open their doors for screening the films, starting at 7pm.
The festival will kick off with the screening of Mademoiselle Paradis at the House No. 1, a historical house with European heritage located on Captain Bush Lane tomorrow. Directed by Barbara Albert, the Austrian drama portrays a blind pianist in 18th-century Vienna who forms an extraordinary relationship with the physician who is trying to restore her sight.
The lineup of the other 18 movies includes Transit on Friday and In The Shadow on Saturday, both at Goethe Institute; The Commune on Sunday and Fireheart: The Legend Of Tadas Blinda on Monday, both at the residence of the Danish ambassador; Al Berto on Dec 4 and Fanny And Alexander on Dec 5, both at the residence of the Portuguese ambassador; and Candidate on Dec 6 and Belgian Rhapsody on Dec 7, both at the residence of the Belgian ambassador.
The other films are L’Opera on Dec 8 and The Bar on Dec 9, both at Alliance Francaise; Swing on Dec 10 and Loving Vincent on Dec 11, both at the residence of the Austrian ambassador; Tulipani: Love Honour And A Bicycle on Dec 12 and
The Other Side Of Hope on Dec 13, both at the residence of the Dutch ambassador; Call Me By Your Name on Dec 14 and Two Lottery Tickets on Dec 15, both at the residence of the Italian ambassador; and I Am Not A Witch on Dec 16 and
Sanctuary on Dec 17, both at the residence of the British ambassador.
