Health now becomes the most preferable benefit among employees.

With the i ncreasing number of health-conscious people, our organisation is facing a transition to new-gen employees who demand health benefits other than the fringe benefits of medical welfare that the organisation has to offer. Therefore, as an employer, we need to change our mindset and put great emphasis on preventive healthcare schemes to create and promote long-term health among our employees. What we do at AIS is create a favourable and inspiring ambiance that allows employees to get access to wellness at the office. Wellness has different dimensions, and health is one of its pillars that we offer to our employees. We offer health-friendly facilities including an in-house gym and we give tokens relating to healthy activities that can be redeemed with privileges and premiums. This creates a competitive and inspiring ambiance that encourages employees to participate in our health campaign. If they feel engaged, have a passion for being healthy and follow it, and we make it fun, health awareness will spread out across different groups of employees. Health consciousness is related to each individual’s attitude. Therefore, awareness should emerge in them first, then passion will come along and it will be integrated in their lifestyle without effort. That’s our definition of truly successful health promotion in the workplace. Before participating in Thailand’s Healthiest Workplace by AIA Vitality project, we were already an active member of the AIA Vitality Programme that empowers employees with the knowledge and tools to make healthier choices and achieve their health goals. The results are impressive. We found a significant number of decreasing in sick leave days after programme completion, while overall productivity increased. Certainly, investment in health in the workplace may not see explicit profit, but benefits will be yielded from something more valuable i.e. lower medical expenses the company must be responsible for and productivity gains from healthy and happy staff. Moreover, the organisation’s turnover rate will be lowered. So it is definitely worth the investment. AIS is very proud to be awarded Thailand’s Healthiest Workplace by AIA Vitality. This is a proof that we are on the right track in keeping our employees healthy in different dimensions. We will continue to develop our policies that benefit health promotion in the workplace going forward.
