Deputy Director of Health Department, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)

As a core agency for promoting and providing quality healthcare service in Bangkok areas, BMA’s Health Department puts great emphasis on health promotion among employees because the health promoters should be healthy first. Active integration of both employers and employees must be implemented. For employers, policies that facilitate employees’ participation in health promotion, favourable and inspiring environment, all are important to engage more employees. Previously, we provided our staff annual medical check-ups, but we never collected the data for analysis. Thailand’s Healthiest Workplace by AIA Vitality allows us to get access to useful information on employees’ health that can improve our health promotion in the long run. We also get the opportunity to educate our employees about healthy lifestyle that will serve them in daily life, both at work and at home. We expect that the result of the health survey in this project will help us understand the health situation of our employees and serve as a health promotion policy going forward in line with our goal to be a health-literate organisation. And, we hope to inspire other agencies to be more concerned about employees’ health that will benefit the overall efficiency of operation across the orgnisation.

Facilitating policy is key to success for health promotion in the workplace.
