Dead body found in Mekong River

NAKHON PHANOM: The body of an uniden­ti­fied man was found float­ing along the Mekong River in Baan Sam­ran Nuea of Muang dis­trict yes­ter­day.

The vic­tim was a 30-40-year-old male of un­known na­tion­al­ity, ap­prox­i­mately 175-180cm tall. His wrists and feet were tied with rope while the body was wrapped in a sack.

Ac­cord­ing to the in­ves­ti­ga­tion, the vic­tim’s ab­domen had been cut open and stuffed with ce­ment in or­der to weigh the corpse down in the water.

Doc­tors con­cluded the vic­tim had been killed at least 48 hours be­fore the corpse was dis­cov­ered. A sim­i­larly tied and weighted corpse was found in That Phanom dis­trict two days prior.
