Shazia Mirza leads an all-star comedy cast

-

Shazia Mirza, an award-winning English comedian, writer and television and radio personality of Pakistani heritage, will take centre stage at the Standup Asia show at the Westin Grande Sukhumvit Hotel, Sukhumvit 19, on Jan 26 at 8.30pm. Birmingham-born Mirza was recently listed by The Observer as one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy. Her latest show, The Kardashians Made Me Do It, played for 103 nights in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Europe, completing four sellout runs at London’s Soho Theatre. Her comedy is said to push barriers and is often referred to as “brave”. Sharing the stage with her will be compatriot Trevor Lock, a comedian, actor and playwright famous for his surreal brand of comedy, which is, by turns, funny, moving and clever. Joining both as special guest will be Maldivian stand-up comedian Fathimath Nuha, a hilarious hijabi dedicated to spreading the thrill of halal humour. Acting as host on the night will be well-travelled Irish comedian Aidan Killian, whose intelligent, impassioned and hilarious rants are famous for exposing the hypocrisy and injustices in the world. Tickets cost 500 baht for early birds and 800 baht at the door (1,400 baht for VIP tickets) and can be purchased from the Clubhouse Sports Bar & Grill on Sukhumvit 23 or via ticketflap. com/bkkcomedy-shaziamirza.
