Defending champions Buriram United tamed hosts Port 3-1 in an encounter marred by heated exchanges and nearscuffles to wrest the Thai League 1 top spot from their opponents.
Port were hoping to retain their place at the top when Sergio Suarez cancelled out Buriram’s first-half strike from the spot by Andres Tunez.
However, Pedro Junior (55th minute) and Chitipat Tanklang (63rd) ensured that Buriram finished the game one point ahead of Port in the table.
