City top job race tipped for year end

-

A source within the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) said the next Bangkok governor and city council elections are likely to take place sometime between September and November this year.

The source said that the Election Commission (EC) has discussed the issue with BMA officials, before adding that it is “highly likely” that the governor race and city council elections will be held the same day.

The poll agency has asked the BMA to review the boundaries of each constituency, estimate the number of eligible voters and forward its findings by the end of next month, the source said.

The Bangkok governor election was tentatively scheduled to take place in August. The source said the final date will be set by the EC.
