Highlanders get therapist training
HEALTH: Rangsit University is offering scholarships for ethnic highland people to study physical therapy and sport medicine so they can provide care to people in their home provinces.
Chorpaka Damrongthai, lecturer in the Faculty of Physical Therapy and Sport Medicine, said three scholarships are up for grabs to help ease a shortage of physical therapists.
The faculty dean has visited two state-run hospitals in Tak’s Tha Song Yang and Umphang districts and found therapists are in short supply to treat patients, many of whom are Karen highlanders.
