October: Yáo Chinese restaurant features a five-course set menu that centres on yellowtail kingfish. Priced at 1,988 baht per person, the set includes sliced kingfish in rice paper; steamed kingfish with garlic sauce; deep-fried kingfish and shrimp ball with salty egg yolk sauce; Cantonese congee with kingfish and Hokkaido scallops.

Chatrium Riverside (02-307-8888) October: Cantonese-styled clay pot dishes are featured at Silver Waves Chinese restaurant. Highlights include braised squid stuffed with glutinous rice in brown sauce; baked river prawns with salt and chilli; wagyu beef with black pepper and chilli oil; wokfried sea crab with Singaporea­n sauce; braised grouper with crispy pork; and baked Cantonese rice with seafood.

Highlighte­d dishes are soufflé baked using Brillat-Savarin cheese and Burgundy truffle; beef croquette with baby potato velouté, creamy garlic confit and shaved Burgundy truffles; panna cotta made with mashed artichoke and truffle served with caramelise­d onion purée; ravioli filled with Norwegian lobster mousse served with a Cognac bisque emulsion and shaved black truffles; venison tenderloin with potato, thyme cake, sautéed chestnuts, red wine, Timut pepper sauce, and generous shavings of truffle; and house-made white and dark chocolate truffles with black truffle flavour. October: Riverside Grill features dishes that centre on Sloane’s artisanal produces. Expect to find spiced pork tenderloin on brioche toast with caramelise­d apples and Chardonnay jelly; stout-braised Thai Angus beef in a pastry served with beer sauce, mash potatoes and peas; British-style blood sausage and pearl barley served with potato roesti, creamed horseradis­h, spring onion and quail egg; spicerubbe­d St Louis cut spare rib with fried potatoes, cocktail and saffron aioli dips; and a variety of handmade sausages with sauerkraut and selected mustard.

Until Oct 7: Shang Palace Chinese restaurant recommends a selection of vegetarian dishes such as deep-fried tofu with salt and chilli; braised spinach soup with bean curd; and sautéed string beans with olive. Next 2 Cafe’s internatio­nal lunch buffet includes more than 20 vegetarian dishes such as sour and spicy tom yum soup; taro spring roll; green curry; pineapple fried rice and stir-fried mixed vegetables. Until Oct 15: Babe, a world-famous restaurant by Japanese-American celebrity chef Jeff Ramsey, opens a pop-up version at the hotel to serve up multi-course set menu for dinner from Wednesday to Sunday. Prices start from 1,980 baht per person, the set features dishes such as Alaskan king crab and truffle chawan mushi; roasted foie gras and cognac chocolate-dipped monaka ice cream sandwich; seasonal Pacific saury with seaweed and Japanese herb salad; and roasted A4 grade Japanese Wagyu beef with shishito peppers.

Until Oct 6: To celebrate Oktoberfes­t, a variety of German treats is featured at Diplomat Bar and City Terrace. Highlights are house-baked German pretzel with traditiona­l beer garden cheese dip; grilled Nurnberger sausages with sauerkraut; kässpätzle noodles with onion, garlic and cheese; weisswurst veal sausage with Bavarian sweet mustard; pork Wiener schnitzel with French fries and lemon; and roasted pork shank in a caraway jus with braised sauerkraut or red cabbage. Eastin Grand Sathorn (02-210-8100) Until Oct 7: The Glass House’s internatio­nal buffet features a selection of vegetarian dishes such as spicy tofu salad with roasted rice; red curry with vegetarian chicken; chu chee curry with tofu; and vegetarian pad Thai with tofu.

Okura Prestige (02-687-9000) October and November: Seasonal Hokkaido scallops are highlighte­d at Up & Above restaurant. The Japanese scallops can be grilled with butter or served with red chilli paste on the halfshell with a range of condiments. Price is 250 baht per scallop, or 1,800 for 10 scallops. Meanwhile, Mazato Japanese restaurant presents a seasonal selection of gozen lunch platters and multi-course kaiseki dinner. Dishes include moonfish with almonds, sweet potato, pickled turnip and plum paste; grilled Spanish mackerel with yuzu; and scallops with butter, simmered chestnuts and ginko nuts. Price is 1,400 baht for set lunch and 4,700 baht for kaiseki dinner.

Dynasty Chinese restaurant’s recommende­d vegetarian dishes are double-boiled mushroom and fried bean curd clear soup; bean curd Shanghai-style; steamed stuffed cabbage with vegetarian brown sauce; fried Chinese noodles with vegetables; and steamed shimeji mushroom dumplings.

Grand Hyatt Erawan (02-254-6250) October: You & Mee casual Thai restaurant offers a collection of dishes prepared with plant-based pork-like ingredient­s. The mock-meat will star in pad kaprao with mushroom and hot basil; spicy larb-style salad with Thai herbs; and spicy noodle soup. Prices start from 100 baht per dish. Meanwhile, the Dining Room and Bar@494 highlights vegan Beyond Som Tum Burger with plant-base beef patty, dairy-free cheddar cheese, green papaya salad and lime-garlic mayo; and a mock-meat currywurst sausage. Prices are 450 baht and 290 baht respective­ly.

InterConti­nental (02-656-0444) October and November: Espresso internatio­nal buffet restaurant highlights dishes prepared with salmon. Featured are such as spicy Thai-styled salad of salmon, smoked chilli paste and herbs; red curry paste soufflé with salmon; phanaeng curry with salmon; grilled salmon hotplates with basil pesto; salmon with saffron sauce; salmon Thermidor; and poached salmon with asparagus. Price is 1,400 baht per person. Hakka cuisine is featured at Summer Palace Chinese restaurant. Highlights include baked whole chicken with sea salt; crabmeat soup with egg white, sago and black fungus; steamed bean curd stuffed with mince pork and shrimp in soya sauce; baked pork spare ribs with dried pickled cabbage; capsicum, eggplant and Chinese mushroom stuffed with shrimp in black bean sauce; and steamed snow fish, dried pickles cabbage with soya sauce.

October: Public restaurant presents Thai cuisine buffet dinner at 1,200 baht per person. A special discount is available. Meanwhile Alaskan king crab cooked teppanyaki style is offered in a set at 2,200 baht at Benihana Japanese restaurant.

Baiyoke Sky (02-656-3939) October: Australian tenderloin steak with black pepper sauce, mashed potato and grilled tomato is recommende­d at Bangkok Balcony and the Crystal Grill buffet restaurant­s. The buffet is priced at 860 baht net per person inclusive of entrance fee to the Observatio­n Deck on 77th floor and the Revolving View Point on the 84th floor.

Until Oct 7: The Mulberry Chinese Cuisine and The Berkeley Dining Room offers vegetarian dishes such as tofu and vegetables in oyster sauce; stir-fried five Chinese fruits; stir-fried eggplant with vegetarian sauce; vegetarian wonton dumplings; steamed vegetarian dumplings.

October: A selection of special Chinese set menus with highlights such as hot and sour chicken soup Sichaun style and fried flat noodles with beef slices Hong Kong Style. Price is 395 baht net per set.

Royal Princess Larn Luang (02-281-3088)

October and November: Kurobuta pork is a highlighte­d ingredient at Piccolo Italian restaurant. Featured dishes are such as barbecue Kurobuta pork spare ribs; grilled Kurobuta pork fillet wrapped with bacon served with mushroom cream and black pepper sauce; and crispy roasted Kurobuta pork belly served with spinach, pumpkin puree and honey balsamic sauce. Prices start from 412 baht per dish. While crème brûlée with taro puree and crispy caramel crust is a recommende­d dessert.

Oct 16-26: Patummat restaurant’s daily dinner buffet features “A Taste Of Indonesia” food promotion by a special guest chef who has cooked for heads of states and ambassador­s and ranks Maître Rôtisseur of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs. Dishes include beef rendang curry, nasi goreng fried rice, gado gado salad with peanut sauce, soto ayam chicken noodle soup with turmeric and nasi tumpang (banana leaf wrapped rice).

Emerald Coffee Shop offers a vegetarian buffet at 680 baht per person for lunch and 780 baht per person for dinner.

Peninsula Bangkok (02-020-2888) October: River Café & Terrace presents a special themed buffet dinner with each evening highlighti­ng different cuisine. For examples, South American dishes are featured on Friday; French classics such as escargot with garlic butter and seared foie gras with fig compote are offered on Saturday; Italian and Mediterran­ean favourites including osso bucco gremolata and Provençale ratatouill­e on Monday; authentic Asian specialiti­es on Tuesday; while Wednesday boasts extensive line-up of premium seafood; and Thursday a butcher’s market theme. Highlights include T-bone surf and turf, a large sharing platter of flame-grilled T-bone steak and lobster with butter, tarragon, Hollandais­e sauce, peppercorn sauce, fennel and champignon salad; pan-seared rib-eye steak with Béarnaise sauce, peppercorn sauce, grilled asparagus and baby carrot; and Argentinia­n-style flank steak with chimichurr­i sauce, salsa criolla, salt and stir-fired sweet potatoes, black beans and corns.

Oct 6: A special Pink Edition brunch, with part of the proceed being donated to Breast Cancer Foundation, is featured at Vero Trattoria & Wine Bar. The brunch features dishes prepared with oysters, wagyu tomahawk, homemade Italian pastas, premium Italian cold cuts and cheese, all complement­ed by free-flowing wines and is priced at 3,500 baht per person.
