LOCKER ROOM TALK

A new gin lab and new creations

If you can Find The Locker Room, then quench your thirst at their spanking new Botanist Gin Lab. The exclusive lab is all about modern luxury and delicious gin cocktails served in high-end Lucaris glassware.

The delicious menu has just four cocktails (see what I mean by exclusive) and follow the root to leaf concept. Conceptualised by group beverage director Rojanat “Ping” Charoensri, the Botanist gin lab menu uses foraged ingredients found in the north of Thailand. Root represents gin with plai root, black turmeric, honey and sparkling wine; Wood is gin with Thai oak, sweet bamboo,

jarkarn and dry vermouth; Leaf is gin, Cointreau, tamarind leaf, pak kayang, lime and Pimm’s No.1; while Fruit comes in the form of gin with guava, salted plum and toasted dried chilli.

Downside is that the lab is only open Thursday to Saturday or for private events.

However, that’s not the only treat at Find The Locker Room. After 10 months of cocktail-testing (R&D, people, R&D), they have a delicious new menu that is under the concept “Past-Present-Future”. “Past represents classic cocktails, present represents today and future means no rules and a proper drink,” says co-owner Colin Chia. The drinks pay homage to beloved classics and the endless possibilities of cocktail creations.

Past favourites include the Bloody Mary, while new favourites (mine, at least) are the Expresso martini, which is a spirit-forward drink and you must love coffee to enjoy it.

Best way to start the night would be with a peachy Bellini and moving on to the Alex Bacon, which is a spin on the classic American drink. Bourbon infused with bacon fat, pumpkin milk, mezcal, maple syrup and chocolate bitters… yum!

Happy Endings (no, not that kind!) is a creamy, frothy and frozen concoction perfect to end the night with. Pun intended.

Most importantly, it is about putting a smile on your face when you walk out of the locker room. If you can.

Open daily 6pm-midnight / Find The Locker Room, 406 Sukhumvit 55/ Call 061524-2689, fb.com/FindTheLockerRoom.
