COME SEE THE CROWNING OF THE QUEEN
The glamorous, legendary beauty pageant for international transgender women, Miss International Queen 2020, is back. Contestants from 21 countries are participating in the 15th edition of this Pattaya-based competition, with the final round taking place at the Tiffany’s Show Theatre Pattaya on Saturday evening.
Miss International Queen (MIQ) began in 2004 and has been held in Pattaya annually since. It aims to raise society’s awareness and advocate for the equality of transgender people. Contestants from all over the world partake in the competition each year. In its first edition, Treechada Petcharat from Thailand was crowned and has since attained the status of an Asian star in her own right.
So far, Thailand has won the competition four times, and is the country with the most winners. The Philippines and US are tied in second place with two winners each. The current title-holder is Jazell Barbie Royale from US.
Celebrating its 15th anniversary, this year’s event will see a reunion of past queens returning home during the final round. Confirmed attendees include Treechada, Ai Haruna from Japan, Mini Han from South Korea, Kevin Balot from the Philippines, Marcela Ohio from Brazil, Nguyen Huong Giang from Vietnam, and more.
At the recent talent and national costume round held in Phuket, representatives from France, Vietnam and Taiwan have bagged the first awards of the year. It remains to be seen who will ascend to the very top and take home this much coveted title and crown.
Tickets to the coronation night can be purchased on Tiffany’s Show website, priced at 3,800 baht for VIP seats and 2,800 baht for mezzanine seats. Doors will open at 8pm on the day and the show is set to start at 9pm.
