Lottery draw to be delayed a month

-

LOTTERY: The Government Lottery Office (GLO) yesterday announced it was postponing next month’s lottery draw in compliance with the Emergency Decree.

Patchara Anuntasilpa, chairman of the Government Lottery board, said the April 1 draw will be postponed to May 2, and since the draw has been deferred, the GLO has also stopped distributing tickets dated April 16 and May 2.

The GLO will return deposits to those who have bought tickets dated April 16, Mr Patchara told the media yesterday.

As a long-term solution, the GLO has been asked to consider distributing tickets online, but in a manner that does not have an impact on lottery vendors. Mr Patchara admitted the GLO and the entire lottery scheme will be affected if the virus drags on for more than two months.
