There is an incompatibility between closing bars but not closing public transport, which raises the question of the effectiveness of the current measures that have been taken.
Since Covid-19 is a disease transmitted via fluids, the safest and best action would be to eliminate all contact with other people and all contact with surfaces which others have touched by every means possible. This includes closing every single venue, every location, every business and transport everywhere which is used by more than a single person.
The current measures taken are a step towards that and it can be argued as to whether it’s too little too late, or too much too early.
Any measure will affect somebody somewhere, depending on their situation.
To quote the Centers for Disease Control, the coronavirus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person, between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 1.8-metres), through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or by touching a surface or object that already has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly eyes.
The key to not spreading the virus is to eliminate these scenarios.
