System failure
Went to renew my driver’s licence yesterday. Had my paperwork checked and in minutes was given an appointment to return 22 April at 7.30am. Very efficient staff and system.
Went to Immigration the day before yesterday. They ran out of queue tickets but worked out a means of serving the throngs in groups of 30 to 40 people.
But, why couldn’t Immigration start an online or in-person appointment system for those who want to renew visas which is based on their visa expiry date?
Of course, there will be special cases and emergencies to deal with ad-hoc. But, the current herd of people system is not really a system.
An advance appointment approach could reduce the turmoil and threat of disease for both staff and clients.
