No, Mr Bahrt, calling novel coronaviru­s “Chinese virus” is not implying that only Chinese will catch it, any more than German measles and Spanish flu.

A hundred years from now, people won’t have a faintest idea what Covid19 is, but they will if we call it Chinese virus or at least CRPS — China Respirator­y and Pulmonary Syndrome.

It is a way to honour China as the country that identified the particular virus strain and warned the whole world of it.
