Cops accused of laying false charge

THON BURI: Four officers of Tha Phra Police Station in Thon Buri have been transferred to inactive posts, following an allegation they pressed a false drug charge against a driver then demanded 15,000 baht.

The transfer order was signed yesterday by Metropolitan Police Division 7 chief Pol Maj Gen Ekkachai Bunwisut.

The incident came into light after the driver wrote on Facebook that he was told to have his urine examined by the officers at a checkpoint. It tested positive, even though he had taken none. Later the officers allegedly offered him “freedom” if he gave them 15,000 baht.
