Hua Hin blues

-

We are 120 metres from the sea in Hua Hin. From the balcony all I can see is smoke. I can hardly see the hills to the west which used to be clearly visible. The pollution is rampant. A ten-minute drive inland will reveal burning, mostly cleared land areas and rubbish pits. This is not a one-off, it’s most days. So much for leaving Bangkok to move to Hua Hin for cleaner air. It’s a fallacy. The AQI today in Hua Hin is 169; in Bangkok it’s 66. As if we don’t have enough to worry about at the moment! How this can be allowed to continue and why people still do it is truly mind-boggling.
