ITALY’S POWERFUL SANITISERS
As Italy succumbs to Covid19, with the world’s highest number of total deaths, Bvlgari has partnered with Industrie Cosmetiche Riunite (ICR) to supply hand gel with sanitiser to medical facilities that are waging war against the deadly virus.
The ICR normally produces Omnia, Goldea, Le Gemme, Aqva Pour Homme and other fragrances, as well as hotel amenities for the Roman luxury house.
In the coming two months, hundreds of thousands of bottles of Bvlgari hand gel, containing 80% alcohol, will be produced at ICR’s factory in Lodi, Lombardy, northern Italy. Not for sale, they will be distributed through the Protezione Civile (Italian Civil Protection Department).
“I believe as a major economic actor and symbol of Italy, Bvlgari has a responsibility to contribute to the national effort to help prevent, fight and eradicate Covid-19. Aware of the difficult situation we are experiencing, we believe it is our duty to contribute with our know-how and production facilities,” said Bvlgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin.
Earlier this month, Babin represented the company in delivering state-of-the-art 3D high-definition microscopes to the Istituto Nazionale per le Malattie Infettive (INMI), which is the Italian Institute for Infectious Diseases, located within Lazzaro Spallanzani Hospital in Rome.
Its virologists, Maria Rosaria Capobianchi, Francesca Colavita and Concetta Castilletti, were the first research team in Italy to isolate the novel coronavirus. The microscopic image-acquisition system allows INMI researchers to study coronavirus infections at a cellular level, and to follow viral growth and interaction with other micro-organisms.
Bvlgari is part of the LVMH Group, whose beauty brands, Guerlain and Givenchy, will also supply around 50 tonnes per week of sanitising gel, for distribution to hospitals in France.
