Opportunity for introspection

-

Isolation at home during the Covid-19 outbreak can become a turning point in our lives if we learn to spend the two weeks of self-quarantine examining our inner selves. This is the idea behind the “The 14-day Menu To Build Mental Immunity: I Can Do”, launched by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation last week.

Presented under the concept of “Stop Travelling Outside The Body And Return

To The Mind”, the campaign is an effort to encourage people to stay at home and spend their free time in a constructive way by engaging in activities that help to develop their mental strength and promote media literacy along with understanding themselves and others, in order to create survival and a meaningful existence.

Center at Mahidol University, Buddhika Network Foundation, Leadership for the Future at Thammasat University, WeOneness group and Creative Citizen Network, the campaign offers easy guidelines under four categories — Readjust, Reflect, Relate and Retreat.

The first focuses on daily activities that can boost awareness or mindfulness such as taking a bath, dining, washing hands or washing dishes. The second is to remind people to turn to look back at their thinking and ponder their past, while the third is to take care of your relationships with the people who surround you. The last category concentrates on self-development activities such as art, sports and meditation.

The four new activities under the four concepts began on Saturday and are presented daily for 14 consecutive days.
