FAO names new as­sis­tant-direc­tor

UNITED NA­TIONS: The head of the Food and Agricultur­e Or­ga­ni­za­tion (FAO), Qu Dongyu, has named Jong-Jin Kim as an as­sis­tant direc­tor-gen­eral of the United Na­tions body and its re­gional rep­re­sen­ta­tive for Asia and the Pa­cific.

Mr Kim, a South Korean na­tional, has a long and dis­tin­guished ca­reer in pub­lic ser­vice. He joined the FAO in 2013 as direc­tor of the South-South Co­op­er­a­tion and Re­source Mo­bi­liza­tion Di­vi­sion. Im­me­di­ately prior to his ap­point­ment, he served as FAO’s deputy re­gional rep­re­sen­ta­tive for Asia and the Pa­cific in Bangkok.
