HERITAGE TO BE PROTECTED
PRESERVATION: The Treasury Department yesterday pledged to ensure that renovation or restoration of old state buildings would adhere to historic building regulations.
Yutthana Yimkarun, the department’s chief, said treasury offices nationwide are speeding up a survey of old structures that have historical, artistic or architectural values. He said occupants of these old buildings will be notified of the properties’ significance and told that renovation or restoration plans must be in line with codes for historical preservation. One of the responsibilities of the Treasury Department is to manage state property.
