FLAWED ARGUMENT
To argue that using monkeys to pick coconuts is an old tradition is similar to the argument that was used to justify slavery in America.
It was a morally irrelevant argument back then and it’s a morally irrelevant argument now. Doing something that’s wrong over and over again doesn’t suddenly make it right.
In a related matter, it’s astounding that someone suggested it was hypocritical for Peta to go after coconut milk producers but not dairy milk producers. The organisation has condemned the dairy industry from day one.
It’s their position (and mine) that if people consume meat or milk (animal or coconut) they have a moral obligation to be certain the meat and milk were produced humanely.
