Cut Copy / Cold Water
The evolution of Australian synth-pop ensemble Cut Copy has been a fascinating one to witness. From their 2004’s debut studio album Bright Like Neon Love to their most recent record Haiku From Zero, the Melbourne-based quartet have exhibited incredible musical growth. To continue their journey towards the quieter, more atmospheric soundscape, they’ve unveiled Cold Water, a follow-up to the equally serene Love Is All We Share. “The sky is falling down/ Or am I falling up/ Feet are off the ground/ Cold water takes me now,” frontman Dan Whitford sings, offering insights into the romance in the day and age where “the climate and fate of the planet are becoming increasingly uncertain”, as he adeptly puts it.
