Wellness for the FUTURE
Chiva-Som International Health Resort is ready for a post-Covid world
The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted the 25th-anniversary celebrations of Chiva-Som International Health Resort, however, since June 12, the award-winning destination spa and wellness retreat has reopened its doors in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan province.
“Even during our closure, we made the wellness of our guests our priority and adapted our services to offer wellness support online,” said Krip Rojanastien, chairman and CEO of Chiva-Som. “Our mission is to enhance our services further for Thailand at a time when it is essential to feel safe. Staying well is the key to combatting future viral attacks. The world will never be the same but wellness is here to stay.”
The health crisis has reinforced the importance of maintaining wellness, he added, as people are more motivated than ever to change their lifestyle and behaviours for stronger immunity and body as well as longevity.
Transformative wellness has been Chiva-Som’s approach since its establishment in 1995. The personalised holistic programme combines treatments, activities and nutrition that promote a balance of mind, body and spirit.
The tranquil resort itself is part of the treatment as it features immaculate gardens and secluded spaces for quiet contemplation, creating a nourishing environment to help guests achieve wellness goals.
Regarding nutrition, a plant-based diet is preferred to avoid health issues caused by meat consumption. Chiva-som’s wellness cuisine features herbs, vegetables and fruits, grown in its organic gardens, of which two have recently been certified to ACT-IFOAM standards.
ACT, or Agriculture Certification Thailand, is a non-profit organisation that inspects and certifies organic agriculture in Thailand and Asia while IFOAM refers to the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements headquartered in Bonn, Germany.
“It is not only about growing organic produce but reaching out to achieve self-sufficiency, sustainable production and waste management, as well as combatting climate change,” said Dilshan David, corporate director of sustainability and compliance. “Our gardeners work tirelessly to grow quality vegetables, fruits and herbs that are free from chemicals and pesticides, along with composting organic waste from the resort to produce nutrient-rich fertiliser to not only take care of our environment but to protect our overall health and wellbeing as well.”
Transitioning to the “new normal”, heightened hygiene measures include Covid-19 testing and quarantine for contact staff, as well as temperature checks upon arrival, deep cleaning of guest rooms, frequent disinfection of all equipment, social distancing as needed, and complimentary sanitiser and masks for guests.
The reopening comes with mini-retreats specifically targeting post-lockdown concerns and special packages for residents of Thailand.
