Celebrate vegetarian food festival in style at Iconsiam
Muang SookSiam at Iconsiam is celebrating the vegetarian food festival in grand style from tomorrow until Oct 25.
Hailed as a phenomenal event of the year, the “Im Boon, Im Jay, 4 Regions” will bring a variety of savoury vegetarian dishes and sweets from authentic restaurants and leading food shops from all four regions across the country in one place.
This is your only chance to try seven legendary tofu recipes from different venues, including yellow tofu from Phra Bat Huay Tom village in Lamphun; black tofu by Je Ang in Ratchaburi; organic white tofu by Madame Tofu in Chiang Mai; soft white tofu on a banana leaf and fresh bean curd sheet by Leng Heng in Bangkok; 100 Years Soybean Milk from Khon Kaen; and tofu custard in ginger syrup from Dalah in Bangkok.
Other highlights include noodle menus that use unique recipes from seven famous brands; and seven mushroom dishes such as grilled orinji mushroom and yakisoba with mixed organic mushrooms from By FF-Farm in Pathum Thani, fermented mushroom by the Nichjung Food store in Ratchaburi, and crispy mushroom from Krukan in Lampang.
More than 300 ready-to-eat meatfree dishes will be served throughout the 10-day festival such as khao mok kai from Ban Krua Thip; fried rice with kale and salted fish from Talalak restaurant; Hong Kong-style roll noodle from Gokjai restaurant; steamed bun ( mantou) stuffed with coconut from Suthathip restaurant; and a hot pot menu with an assorted variety of 10 tofu from Isan Jim Joom restaurant.
Many restaurants at SookSiam zone will also present a vegetarian version of their signature dishes. They include
Pad Thai Ari, Phuthai Kaiyang, Siam Namnueng, The Heritage and PunThai Coffee. Visitors are also invited to worship and pray for a blessing at the Marici Bodhisattava deity and the Nine Emperor Gods during the opening ceremony tomorrow at 2pm.
