SEEING STARS

-

In the month of love, Omega places its Constellation collection in the limelight. Launched in 1952, the classic timepiece was named after eight stars that represent eight precision records set by Omega at Kew-Teddington and the Geneva Observatory during the mid-20th century. In different combinations of colours and effects, the fifth generation boasts a similar look to models redesigned in 1982 with a barrel-shaped case featuring-half-moon facets at the top and bottom and four “claws” on its side.

These hallmarks along with the circular dial, indexes on the bezel and mono-link bracelet havemade the Constellation unmistakable.

The Constellation Gents’ collection has been updated with new models, sized at 39mm, in materials such as yellow gold, Sedna gold and stainless steel.

An alloy of gold, copper and palladium, Omega’s reddish Sedna gold is named after an orbiting planetoid that has been described as one of the reddest in the solar system.

Other refinements include the conical crown, slimmer bezel and claws, polished and bevelled edges along the case, claws and bracelet, as well as redesigned Roman numerals, hands and hour-markers that recall the triangular facets of the Freedom Tower in New York.

The makeover was previously given to the Constellation ladies’ watches in 2018. They differ from the men’s models with a round instead of a trapezoidal aperture below a golden star.

The range now include 29mm versions in stainless steel, Sedna gold, yellow gold, or blends of steel and gold.

Evoking a star-lit sky, aventurine dials give them a mesmerising blue face that sparkles with diamond hour markers, except at 6 o’clock where the round window shows the date. The bezels circling the blue dials are brushed with Roman numerals or polished and diamond-set.

The Constellation men’s and women’s watches carry the Master Chronometer status — achieving the Swiss industry’s highest certification for precision, performance and magnetic resistance.
