Villager finds skeletons in field

-

ANG THONG: Almost a dozen of what appear to be mummified remains thought to be 3,000 years old were found by a villager in Sawaeng Ha district while he was working in his rice fields. Somkiat Boribun, the 54-year-old villager who found the skeletons, brought them home so he could pay homage to the remains. Among the skeletal remains are believed to be women and children.

An examination found the petrified skeletons are in almost perfect condition. Plates and bowls were on the skeletons when they were found. Mr Somkiat already has three other similar skeletons at his home. According to Mr Somkiat, numerous archaeological finds and skeletons from the Neolithic Period dating back more than 3,000 years were found in his rice fields last year. The Fine Arts Department sent experts to excavate the site and found artefacts and five skeletons in perfect condition.
