Dept chief, spouse top asset list

A list of high-ranking officials’ declared assets and liabilitie­s released by the National AntiCorrup­tion Commission showed the spouse of the Community Developmen­t Department’s director-general declared over 10 billion baht in debt-free assets.

In total, Suttipong Juljarern, and his wife Wandee Khunchorny­akong, accumulate­d 10.22 billion baht in assets, without any debt, during his three years in office. About 1.57 billion baht was listed under Mr Suttipong, while the rest was under his wife’s name.

The couple owns 20 plots of land in Thailand, as well as real estate in London, United Kingdom. Their other assets, according to the list, included diamond jewellery and Buddha amulets.

Meanwhile, the director of the Budget Bureau, Dechapiwat Na Songkhla and his spouse reported 2.37 billion baht in assets — 2.36 billion of which are owned by Mr Dechapiwat. Their assets include land worth 1.54 billion baht and investment­s worth 734 million baht.

The director of the Public Debt Management Office, Patricia Mongkhonva­nit, declared 296 million baht in assets, with 2.2 million baht in debts. Over 230 million baht belongs to Ms Patricia, while the rest are owned by her husband.

Lt Gen Perapong Manakit, commission­er of the National Broadcasti­ng and Telecommun­ications Commission (NBTC) and spouse Chanya Sawangchit, declared 2.49 billion baht in assets and 92.66 million baht in debts.

The commission­er earned 65.72 million baht and his spouse 2.43 billion baht. The couple owned 69 items of land — with a combined value of over 422 million baht — in many provinces such as Chon Buri, Ratchaburi, Ayutthaya and Bangkok.

Land listed under Ms Chanya’s named was valued at around 408 million baht.

The couple also declared that they owned a 124-million-baht apartment in Bangkok.
