Ten-man Leeds snatch last-gasp victory at Man City

-

A dramatic last-gasp winner from Stuart Dallas earned 10-man Leeds United a shock 2-1 victory against runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium yesterday.

A much-changed City side struggled to get going in the first half, with Leeds taking a surprise lead in the 42nd minute, full-back Dallas drilling the ball in off the post with the visitors’ first shot at goal.

Leeds’ joy was short-lived, however, as a VAR intervention saw their captain Liam Cooper sent off just before the break for a dangerous looking challenge on City’s Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus.

The depleted visitors then defended en masse, with City struggling to break through, but Ferran Torres ended their resistance in the 76th minute, levelling the score with a fine finish.

The drama was not over however. As City threw everything at Leeds in search of a winner, the visitors broke at pace, with Dallas racing through to grab a sensational win for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the 91st minute.

The result means City’s six-game winning streak in all competitions has ended as they remain 14 points clear of second-placed Manchester United having played two more games, while Leeds move up to ninth.

Fulham still have ‘fighting chance’

Adama Traore grabbed a stoppage-time winner as Wolves beat Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage on Friday to send the Londoners closer to relegation from the Premier League.

In added time, Traore ran down the right before firing home to secure his side’s first victory since mid-February.

However, Fulham boss Scott Parker insists his team can still beat the drop.

“We find ourselves in this position where we are, but we’ve got a fighting chance because of what you see at the end of the game, a team and a group of players that are desperate,” he said.

“We will continue, painful, hurt but as always you get your guard up and you come out swinging, and that’s what we’ll do.”

Fulham have lost their last four league games with their most recent win a stunning victory over champions Liverpool at Anfield on March 7.

They remain third from bottom, three points behind Newcastle who have played two games fewer.

Wolves are 12th and seemingly safe in the Premier League for another season.
