Wounded Sharks out reclaim T1 top spot

- TOR CHITTINAND

Chonburi will be hoping to bounce back from their first defeat of the Thai League 1 season when they visit bottom club Police Tero today.

Surprise package Chonburi suffered a 3-2 loss to Chiang Rai United on Friday.

A win against Police Tero will see the Sharks return to the top of the table.

It is a good chance for Chonburi to get back to winning ways as Police Tero are the only team without a win so far this season.

The Sharks’ attack will be led by in-form Brazilian striker Dennis Murillo who tops the scoring charts with seven goals.

In today’s other match, SCG Muang Thong United host promoted Nongbua Pitchaya in what could be a tricky assignment for the Kirins as Nongbua are enjoying a good run in their first ever season in the top flight.

With two wins and two draws,

Nongbua are one point ahead of former champions Muang Thong.

Tomorrow, champions BG Pathum United are at home to Chiang Rai United and either side could take first place with a win.

Pathum coach Aurilio Vidmar said he is confident his men are good enough to beat the Beetles although the Rabbits will be without defenders Andres Tunez and Victor Cardozo and striker Diogo Luis Santo.

Leaders Buriram United host Samut Prakan who suffered a shock 3-1 home loss to newcomers Chiangmai United at the weekend.

“Our aim is to win. It will be a difficult game but we want three points to remain leaders,” said Buriram coach Alexandre Gama.

On Thursday, Chiangmai face a difficult task against Port.
