4 nabbed for drug trafficking
CHIANG MAI: Four people were arrested in Mae Taeng district for allegedly trafficking 100,000 speed pills and 2kg of crystal methamphetamine.
Pol Lt Gen Piya Tawichai, the commissioner of Provincial Police Region 5, said yesterday the arrests followed a tip-off about a drug deal.
Police followed a suspected drug dealer from his home to a drug pick-up venue and a subsequent search of the suspect’s car found the pills and the crystal meth.
The four suspects were identified as Kanthawut Ruangthip, Yuchai Jamee, Jalor Jakhu and Pitaksirung Japae.
According to police, the four are members of a drug ring led by Athiwat Srima who has an outstanding arrest warrant and is believed to be hiding in a neighbouring country.
