BGRIM receives award for Cambodian solar farm

-

B.Grimm Power Plc (BGRIM)’s solar farm in Cambodia has received an award this year for “Best New Utility of Its Kind” from the UK-based International Finance Magazine (IFM).

The award highlights the cuttingedge technology of the company’s 39-megawatt solar photovoltaic facility in Banteay Meanchey province and its commitment to developing clean energy for a better tomorrow.

Harald Link, chairman and president of BGRIM, hailed Cambodia’s awardwinning solar power facility as a success as it was completed on schedule despite the Covid-19 pandemic and natural disasters taking place in the construction area in 2020.

“This award reinforces BGRIM’s expertise in the solar power business that the company is prepared to expand to cover government and private sectors both at home and abroad,” Mr Link said.

The output from the solar farm has been supplying the state-run electricity utility Electricite Du Cambodge’s grid since December 2020 under a 20-year agreement. It is the first solar energy project in Cambodia that has secured a firm power supply guarantee from the Cambodian government.

The IFM Award 2021 adds to BGRIM’s collection of IFM awards. The company’s 257MW Phu Yen TTP solar power project in Vietnam received an award for being the “Best Power Plant Project Developer” in the solar energy category from the IFM in 2019.

As of now, BGRIM has 50 power plants in commercial operation. The company aims to ramp up its total installed capacity from 3,058MW to at least 7,200MW of secured power purchasing agreement by 2025.
