Teacher is accused of abusing boy

The Crime Victims Assistance Club has filed a complaint against a male teacher at an all-boys school in the Bang Kae area for allegedly molesting an 11-yearold boy for three years.

Yesterday, club chairman Atchariya Ruangrattanapong took the boy and his parents to file the complaint with Pol Col Narong Thesviboon, deputy commander of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD) against the teacher, whose name has not been released.

Pol Col Narong said police are working on gathering evidence, after questioning the victim and his parents, and bringing in a psychologist and multidisciplinary team of child welfare experts to investigate.

Mr Atchariya said that the accused teacher has molested the boy for more than 3 years since 2018. The teacher has been accused of molesting at least five boys from Prathom 3 to 6.

The alleged victim and his family are said to have made several attempts to report the matter before, but no action was ever pursued due to a lack of evidence.

The teacher is said to have been convincing in his denials during an initial interview and remains teaching classes as normal, for now, Mr Atchariya said.

The victim’s group chairman said the school has already made it clear it wishes to see the charges dropped, but he, and the boy’s family, are determined to take the case to court.
