Student falls to death from station

SAMUT PRAKAN: A vocational school student fell to his death from the Pu Chao skytrain station on Sukhumvit Road in Muang district on Sunday evening, police said yesterday.

His death was reported to Sam Rong Nua police about 7pm, Pol Lt Pongsakorn Inkong said.

Police sent to the scene reported finding the young man lying face up on a footpath near a bus stop underneath the station in tambon Sam Rong Nua. He had multiple broken bones, police said.

He was identified as Kitsana Chanthawong, 22, a first-year student in electrical mechanics at the Bangkok College of Technology in Phra Khanong, Bangkok.

The body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute at the Police General Hospital for an autopsy.

Security camera recordings showed the student had paced back and forth on the third floor of the BTS station from 5pm for over an hour, before climbing over a barrier and then falling to the ground below.
