Samart rejigs to enhance management

-

Samart Digital has undergone a reorganisation to enhance its management agility by dividing its business into two areas — digital network and digital services.

For digital network business, Samart Digital partnered with the National Telecom Plc (NT) to provide a digital trunked radio system (DTRS) to expand coverage in all areas nationwide.

The Provincial Electricity Authority signed a contract to use Samart Digital’s DTRS service in the North, Northeast and South for 48 months. The service period began in August of this year and will run until August 2025.

The Ministry of Interior also signed a contract with Samart Digital’s partner NT to use the same service for 38 months to help the government enhance its communication system, especially in emergencies. The project will start from April 2022, with estimated DTRS users at 77,000.

Under this project, Samart Digital, as NT’s partner, will receive revenue sharing from monthly fees throughout the contract period, which is the company’s long-term recurring income, together with additional incomes received from the sale or rental of client devices.

The company estimates that its preliminary revenue from providing DTRS services to customers will be about 1.5 billion baht.

As for the digital services, Samart Digital will soon launch two new digital applications — Horoworld and PokPong — in the last quarter of this year.

Horoworld is a horoscope application, while PokPong focuses on mobile security and guards against cyber threats.

The partnership with mobile leader Advanced Info Service (AIS) was forged in order to boost Samart Digital’s customer base of PokPong.

In addition, the company is developing a new mobile application to help users tackle message scams which are now a major concern and problem among mobile phone users, which cause them damage. The new application will be available for download in the near future.

Watchai Vilailuck, chief executive of Samart Corporation, the parent firm of Samart Digital, added business resiliency comes from its ability to quickly respond to changing trends and adapt products and services accordingly.

The downsizing, the streamlining of the work process, and the productivity enhancement have contributed to Samart Digital’s successful reorganisation.
