Chadchart takes lead in city race

-

Chadchart Sittipunt, an independent running in the upcoming Bangkok governor election, has taken the lead among candidates in a survey by the National Institute of Development Administration (Nida).

The poll, the ninth monthly survey, was conducted on Dec 23–25 via telephone interviews with 1,317 eligible voters aged 18 and over in Bangkok. An election to select a Bangkok governor and members of the City Council is expected in the first half of this year.

When asked who they would for, the answers included Chadchart Sittipunt, former transport minister in the Yingluck Shinawatra government (38.8%); Suchatvee Suwansawat of the Democrat Party (13%); and Pol Gen Aswin Kwanmuang, current Bangkok governor (10.25%). Of the rest, 11.85% were still undecided, 4.9% would tick the “no vote” box and 2.35% would not go to the poll.
