LAOs, police top complaints list
PUBLIC SERVICE: The Office of the Ombudsman received more than 10,000 complaints last year, its president said yesterday.
Somsak Suwansujarit said local administrative organisations (LAOs) faced the largest share of complaints in 2021.
“Most involved construction work, public infrastructure services and public land encroachment,” Mr Somsak said.
He said the Royal Thai Police came second with most complaints focusing on poor handling of cases and inappropriate conduct.
Mr Somsak said the Department of Provincial Administration, which oversees village heads and tambon chiefs, City Hall and the Land Department also faced complaints about the poor handling of people’s complaints, poor public services and improper conduct. He said the Office of Ombudsman would set up rapid response teams to ensure urgent problems would be addressed as soon as possible.
