Grand Prix Club to stage Royal’s Cup
The inaugural Royal’s Cup, which will take place next month at the Grand Prix Golf Club in Kanchanaburi, will be one of the opening events in the Asian Tour’s new season.
Offering a total purse of US$400,000, the first full-field Asian Tour event in Thailand in 2022 will be played from Feb 24-27.
The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in March 2020 but was postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The event will now form part of an exciting series of early events on the 2022 Asian Tour schedule which is due to be released later this month.
Prachin Eamlumnow, chief of Grand Prix International Co, said: “It’s our aim to promote Thailand as a worldclass golfing destination and develop the game here through the staging of this event, held in honour of His Majesty the King and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Grand Prix International in 2020.”

A number of cars will be on offer as hole-in-one prizes on every parthree hole. A number of Thai players are expected to compete in the event including Phachara Khongwatmai, who won his breakthrough Asian Tour title in Phuket last month.
