Metropolitan Waterworks Authority ensures water cleanliness and safety

The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) would like to emphasise the fact that when your nose picks up on the smell of chlorine it’s a sign of cleanliness. As part of MWA’s water treatment process, the chlorine will be added to the water in an amount that is safe for consumption in accordance with the World Health Organization’s recommendation. While MWA maintains that you can safely drink water straight from the tap, you can also reduce the chlorinated water odour by putting the water in an open container and leaving it for 30 minutes before consumption.
