3 Europeans sought after tests turn up positive

TRAT: Three of six European travellers who reportedly left Koh Chang before their Covid-test results came back positive were found last night at a new resort on the island.

Tourist police said Arnaud Cachia,32, Romain Thiauld Gretten, 32, both from France and Marek Zbignien Bonleckl, 65, from Poland were found at a new resort on the island soon after the three had checked in there.

The other three travellers were being sought by Koh Chang district authorities as of press time yesterday.

They were Oleheming Borgem Kolstad, 38, from Norway, Dariusz Tomasz Krause, 51, from Poland and Johan Debernardi, 31, from Switzerland.

Earlier yesterday, the deputy district chief, Decha Pralomrim, filed a complaint with Koh Chang police after authorities were unable to find the six tourists on the resort island.

Acting district chief Charnchai Pacharawarangkul said all six visited the island under the Test & Go scheme and took Covid tests at Koh Chang Hospital on Tuesday.

Their test results were positive but they were nowhere to be found when authorities tried to contact them.

Mr Charnchai said hotel staff reported all had checked out on Wednesday afternoon. He suspected they had hoped to avoid compulsory quarantine and said they could now be in Pattaya or Bangkok.

It was unclear whether they came to Thailand as a group or as individuals or had stayed at the same or different resorts on the island.
